Football: Agates run through Virginia
Two Harbors senior Spencer Ross 233 yards and two touchdowns in the Agates 28-6 victory over Virginia last weekend at Virginia.
As a team, Two Harbors ran the ball for 407 yards and four touchdowns as the Agate attacked kept rolling against an improved and much bigger Virginia team.
While Two Harbors rushing attack is rolling, defense continues to define the Agates' season. The Agate defense allowed just 43 yards on the ground and quarterback Jack Zupetz passed for 135 yards and a late touchdown.
Ross scored from 37 yards out late in the first quarter and the Agates would take a 7-0 lead into the locker room at halftime. Ross struck again from two yards out in the third quarter, while quarterback Ryan Darsow and Mason Mayer would add short touchdown runs to put the game away in the fourth quarter.
Zupetz got Virginia on the board with an 18 yard touchdown pass to Tommy Carmody with less than two minutes to play to make the score 28-6.
Two Harbors (4-1) will face Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin in the Agates 2017 homecoming game at 7 p.m. Friday in Two Harbors.
